Providing custom chemical foundations for demanding worldwide manufacturing requirements.
Founded in March 2020, Shandong Runtai New Materials Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive group firm that specializes in the research, development, and mass-scale production of fine chemical materials. With our headquarters located in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, the corporation operates five dynamic branches in different strategic hubs across China.
Spanning an expansive area of 270,000 square meters and backed by a total strategic investment of 2.06 billion yuan, we build highly integrated raw material value chains. By controlling key intermediates, we guarantee supply resilience and unbeatable consistency for global manufacturers.
Ensuring steady bulk supply chains through fully vertical raw-material integration and leading digital control.
Runtai New Materials has established itself as an undisputed leader in China's thermosetting polymer landscape. Our massive industrial output supports long-term contract reliability:
This immense vertical integration means we synthesize our own primary raw materials. This eliminates pricing volatility, guarantees low free-formaldehyde content, and keeps production schedules strictly on time.
Phenolic Resin Novolac is a thermoplastic polymer produced through the acid-catalyzed polycondensation of phenol with formaldehyde. Characterized by a formaldehyde-to-phenol molar ratio of less than 1 (typically in the range of 0.75:1 to 0.85:1), Novolac synthesis requires an acid catalyst such as oxalic acid, hydrochloric acid, or sulfamic acid. Unlike Resols, Novolac chains cannot crosslink on their own because they lack reactive methylol groups.

Delivering high-performance polymer solutions tailored for extreme industrial applications.
Runtai's Novolac resins provide high thermal durability and mechanical strength, maintaining stable friction performance in automotive brake pads and heavy-duty clutch facings under extreme friction heating.
Optimized dry-powder Novolac systems deliver high matrix adhesion strength and controlled elasticity for high-speed cutting discs, abrasive flaps, and industrial grinding wheels.
Used as binders in carbon-containing refractories, our phenolic resins yield high carbon residues upon pyrolysis. This maintains the structural stability of steelmaking ladle and converter linings.
Ensures smooth casting finishes and precise dimensional accuracy. Resins deliver fast cure speeds, minimized mold expansion, and high hot tensile strength during metal casting processes.
Our Zaozhuang factory operates under a unified Distributed Control System (DCS). This level of automation ensures all chemical parameters—from reactor temperature controls to catalyst additions and distillation pressures—remain within extremely tight parameters.
Advanced Production Technology: Our control systems stabilize operational temperatures and run safety-interlock algorithms to maximize yield, limit byproduct generation, and reduce energy consumption per ton of finished product.
Integrated Industrial Supply Chain: By maintaining a broad upstream formaldehyde chain, Runtai protects its customers from wild pricing swings. Our local logistics networks and strategic port access ensure prompt global dispatch.
Why lead manufacturers choose Shandong Runtai as their primary chemical partner.
Runtai occupies approximately 80% domestic market share for core resin and formaldehyde derivatives in China, representing trusted quality and reliability at an immense scale.
Our production facilities utilize modern Distributed Control Systems (DCS). This minimizes human error, improves process safety, and guarantees consistent batch-to-batch polymer specifications.
From precision reactors to high-performance chromatography instruments, we deploy advanced global equipment to optimize yield, control cost, and meet international testing metrics.
Partnering with the Changzhou Research Institute of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, we run a dedicated doctoral lab focused on new polymer materials and patented breakthroughs.
By producing our own base chemicals, we extend production into adhesives, coatings, resins, molding powders, and water-based additives, maximizing value for industrial buyers.
As regulatory and environmental guidelines tighten globally, Runtai New Materials is actively steering its research towards green, high-performance phenolic systems. Our corporate technical roadmap focuses on three main developments:
Replacing fossil-based phenol with lignin, cardanol (derived from cashew nutshell liquid), or bio-tannins. This lowers the carbon footprint of the resulting Novolac without sacrificing crosslinking density or thermal stability.
Through molecular distillation advances and precise kinetic modeling, we are developing a new generation of Novolac resins with free monomer content below 0.1%. This directly benefits automotive interior applications by reducing volatile emissions.
Integrating graphene or silicon dioxide nanoparticles into the Novolac matrix. These modifications elevate the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) beyond 250°C, opening up new opportunities in aerospace composites and advanced semiconductor packaging.
Runtai New Materials works closely with regulatory frameworks to ensure seamless access to international markets. We prioritize environmental safety across our entire footprint:
Procuring industrial-grade Phenolic Novolac Resins requires careful alignment of chemical properties with application parameters. Industrial buyers should focus on the following key metrics:
